A wedding day is a celebration of your love for one another. It is a chance to say your vows in front of God and your loved ones, followed by a reception of one sort or another. Whatever your religious denomination, weddings are something to be enjoyed and celebrated, but if you don’t have much money to spend on the occasion, perhaps because you are frantically saving for a new life together, it can be a bit of a worry.
However, you don’t need to worry because there are lots of ways to create a wonderfully romantic
day on a tight budget – and here’s how.
Romantic Wedding Venues
The venue is very important when planning a wedding. If you are having the actual ceremony in your local church, you only need to find a venue for the reception, but if you have your heart set on a ceremony elsewhere, look for a pastor who will marry you there.
When looking for the perfect location, consider whether anyone you know has a suitable place for a
wedding reception. A scenic garden or large area where a marquee could be erected would be perfect for a relatively inexpensive but romantic wedding; and if there is a babbling stream, pretty wildflower meadow or mountainous backdrop, so much the better.
Food and Drink
Your guests will need food and drink to keep them sustained throughout the day. Food can be inexpensively prepared by asking friends and family to contribute. If every guest brings a dish, you should have more than enough food for the wedding party. Do make sure you co-ordinate on who’s
bringing what, however, or you might end up with too much of the same thing.
Drink is no less problematic. Pop up bars from companies such as liquidchefs.co.uk can be useful for wedding receptions held in outdoors locations. All of the drink is provided and guests can buy their own drinks on the day. Alternatively, take a trip to your local off-license and stock up on a mixture of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests.

Wedding dresses needn’t cost a fortune. If you have a dress handed down from a mother or grandmother, all you need to do is alter it to fit, which can be done very inexpensively. Otherwise, why not look online for a second-hand dress you can adapt to fit you? Since wedding dresses are usually worn only once, you should be able to pick up a pretty dress for very little, and if you adorn it with flowers, the end result will be very romantic.
You could quite easily spend a fortune buying flowers from a florist, but it is very easy to create a romantic setting with wild flowers or flowers collected from your garden. Pick the flowers you like
the day before the ceremony and them store them in water overnight, preferably somewhere cool to keep them nice and fresh. On the day, bundle small bunches of flowers together and tie them with pretty ribbons. They will make beautiful centerpieces for tables or decorations in the church.
You don’t need buckets of cash to have a perfect wedding day – with a bit of imagination it is easy to create a romantic vibe you and your guests will love.
