Must Have Items for a Bohemian Chic Wardrobe
The Bohemian Chic style is one that's quite popular today. Even if you don't want to fully embrace this look, it's a good idea to have a few of these outfits in your wardrobe for when you're in a whimsical mood. So, what will you need in your wardrobe to put together this great look?
One of the first items most people think of when they're putting together a Bohemian Chic outfit are tunics. Whimsical or retro styles with embroidery on them or wrinkled cotton are the most popular, but there are also basic t-shirt styles as well. You can pair these with a vest and a pair of skinny jeans or leggings and a pair of knee-high boots.
A Maxi Skirt or Dress
A simple, solid-colored maxi skirt or dress that isn't too poofy is a great piece to add to anything, even a graphic t-shirt and a pair of gladiator sandals. You can also wear it with a v-neck shirt and a floppy sun hat or a button-down flannel shirt and canvas sneakers.
Neutral-Colored Ankle Boots
Slouchy, distressed boots that are loose around your ankles pair nicely with a short skirt or a pair of skinny jeans. If you opt for a heel, make sure it isn't too high or skinny.
Headwraps and Hairbands
Anything from a thin hippie headband to a bold cloth one can work well in your hair. There are also headbands that look great across your forehead or a few inches back like a halo. Many of them are quite inexpensive at stores like Sonoran Rose and they look great with curly hair or even a pony tail.
When you want to wear flip-flops but need to look polished and fashionable, opt for a pair of gladiator sandals that stop right before your ankles. Of course, knee-high and high heel gladiator sandals make a bold statement too.
Knit Cardigans and Sweaters
These are a staple for any wardrobe, but especially a Bohemian Chic one. Here you should opt for lacy or see-through items you can layer over other outfits.
The more unique your jewelry, the better. As long as the items are made from wood, coral, turquoise, feathers, or suede, they're in style. Pounded metal and intricate beading are also popular. Dangling,
oversized hoop or feather earrings and a statement necklace are great pieces to wear. You should also look for a pair of cool cuffs for on your forearm or biceps.
An oversized cross-body bag will help pull your look all together. It doesn't matter if it's made of cloth, fringe, or suede as long as it's big and floppy. You should try to find a style that has handles and a shoulder strap so it's versatile. Canvas messenger bags also work great, especially on a college campus.
Now you know what the defining characteristics of the Bohemian style are, you can easily incorporate some of these items in your own closet.
