With the holiday season almost upon us, it’s inevitable that you’ll probably be attending at least one festive event this year. And with the majority of people attending Christmas events that are almost all centered around drinking alcohol and eating fatty foods, it’s no wonder that the holiday period is the time of year where a lot of people report putting on some extra weight. If you still want to take part in festivities this year but don’t want to do too much damage to your waistline, here are some tips to help you out.
Alcohol is almost always available at Christmas events. However, many people tend to forget that what we drink can have as much of an impact on our weight as what we eat. So, if you go to a festive event and are very careful about your food choices, you don’t want to ruin it all by drinking all the calories that you’re trying to avoid instead. With alcohol, the goal is to choose options that keeps both your buzz and your calories under control. Sprits are great choices as they tend to be the lowest in calories, whilst a glass of prosecco or champagne are also better options. Along with that, you’re also more likely to sip these kind of drinks than knock them back – meaning that you’ll drink less.
Just because you’ve decided to keep an eye on your waistline this holiday season doesn’t mean that you should completely restrict yourself from indulging in any of your favorite festive treats. By all means, you should allow yourself to have some treats and enjoy the festive period, however it’s good to keep in mind that moderation is key.
